5 weeks old - Family Time

So the last 2 1/2 weeks have seen both families come to HK to meet the little man. First arrivals were Trent's parents for 9 days, quickly followed by Anke, Kyrsten & Dushka for the next week. It has been lovely to share him in person with everyone, and needless to say he has been a hit. All commented that it feels real now that they've got to hold him and see him in person. Zach worked his charm and all left in love with him. It was a different kind of holiday for everyone, while there was some sightseeing, it was mostly about spending time with Zach, and ensuring his needs were met. Will let the photos do the talking:
Mama's first hold
Pop working his magic on Zachary
Three generations of Swifts
No one else could get him to settle that night, but Mick had the touch
Middle Island RHKYC for a refreshing bevy also set the scene for some lovely photos
A stroll around the Morning Trail on The Peak, it is rumoured that Zach may have slept through the whole thing, apart from a brief interlude to feed.
High Tea at the Pen - a first for most! Again Zach lapped up the decadence by snoozing away, and kindly allowing him mum to feast before demanding some sustenance of his own.

And then it was time for the de Reuver/Winkley clan:
First holds for Auntie Dushka & Oma
And for Auntie Winks
And maybe second holds too
Looking after Baby Zach while mum had yet another check up (no there doesn't appear to be anything wrong, just QMH being extra thorough) The little dude chilling out on Kyrs's knees
Story time with Oma Feeding Zach while mum completed the first step of his paperwork to be allowed to have an Australian passport, and picked up the Xmas goodies.

And some poignant reminders that life is pretty good - we all tend to think there are risks in our jobs, and can from time to time get carried away by how important/ serious our decisions are. These two put it into perspective, both outside our living room window:
1) putting up bamboo scaffolding on the building opposite our place - yes he is sitting approximately 45-50 floors in the air, yes he is sitting on the bamboo that he is attaching to the side of the building to do the repairs, and most probably, he will come back in a week/month or two to take it down by sitting on the bamboo frame again and removing it from under his own backside.
2) the window cleaners came through for the annual spruce up - Dushka thought this was the best - although not a fan of heights herself, watching these guys come past made her afternoon. Some say HR and IT in banks can be rough, but I think these guys take the cake for needing nerves of steel.

More to come next week,
Lots of love,
Nik, Trent & Zachary
