A Home Is Where Your Heart Is - Week 14

It's been another busy week, with a focus on trying to find a new place to live. While The Merton has been good to us, the arrival of the bump does cause us some challenges from a space perspective. So we've been seeing the inside of HK apartments for the last few weeks, viewing hundreds of places online, and playing the agent question game of how much size, how many bedrooms, how much money, and you really want an oven? After nearly 4 1/2 years in HK, this is one of my criteria and it seems to cause consternation to many a real estate salesman that I'm not willing to budge.

We've seen some great floor plan which have been ruined by excessive built-in fixtures (who seriously needs 2 walls of cupboard space, a built in bed and desk all in a 2.5x2.5 m room??); some fabulous space only to look straight into another block of flats/ building site (and when we say straight in I mean I could probably spit at them and hit); and we've seen the odd place that nearly sent me reeling back outside due to the smell. But the good news is we have discovered one or two gems in the midst - one in Kennedy Town and one in the Mid Levels. We're waiting to hear back from the agents - so cross your fingers for us that one comes out, otherwise it'll be another weekend of up & down lift for us next weekend.

Anne-Marie has kindly lent me a bunch of maternity gear which should set me up well and truly for getting fat, and other friends have promised a supply of gadgetry we don't yet fully appreciate.
