10 weeks - Keeping Our Eyes Open

This week marks Zachary's inaugural flight to Australia, so there's been much thought and preparation into tonight's journey. With the little scamps growth recently we are a little worried we'll be supporting the Australian retail figures single handedly to keep him clothed, let alone coping with how backward Oz is. Would we really be able to get all these products that we've come to rely so heavily on?? Do pampers retail in Australia? Do we need to take 3 week's worth? That could be Zach's entire luggage capacity right there... Luckily, we paused for breathe and figured that most of you who have children have been providing support and encouragement seem to have managed, so we figure we'll give it a go without breaking the import allowances.

Zach has also been helping out by staying awake during taxi rides (not sure this is a good thing) and sleeping until 4 & 5 am (definitely a good thing)! Ironically last night he slept until 5.20am but I had to get up to express earlier because my boobs were too full to sleep. Something is clearly wrong in this arrangement now, but we'll try and sort it in Oz or when we get back.

Zach's attention span is also growing rapidly, he has suddenly become interested in new toys, intently following and reacting to picture books, and getting bored more easily when old toys hang around too long. The caterpillar has been a hit in the pram, with Zach carrying out intent conversations with it (thanks to the Bramhams for sharing). The Little Panda book has also been a hit (thanks Sarah!) with the little finger puppet providing much entertainment.

We've rather excited to be coming home and sharing the little guy with many of you, as well as getting some nice summer weather (please weather gods, we have a lot of grey in HK at this time of year, and its a little chilly, so would you mind turning on the summer weather for the next 3 weeks?). Our updates may be a little slower for the next few weeks, but we'll bring you back up to date with photos and stories galore when we're back! Happy Chinese New Year to those of you in Asia, hope you all have safe travels, and we look forward to more good things in the year of the Dragon!

Until then, lots of love,
Nik, Trent & Zachary
